How connecting works
Random works across the tools you connect: your mailbox and calendar first, then your CRM and other work tools. Each connector page says what it reads, what it may write, and how to stop it.
Where you connect
Open Connections in the app. Start with your mailbox: Google, Microsoft Outlook or 365, or another email account over IMAP. You can connect up to three inboxes. Work tools such as a CRM are connected and disconnected by the workspace owner.
Three ways to connect
| Way | Used by | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| Sign-in | Google, Microsoft Outlook, other email (IMAP), HubSpot, Pipedrive, Google Drive, Slack | You sign in and approve the access shown on the screen. |
| API key | Attio, RecruitCRM, Motion, Gamma | You create a key in that tool and paste it into Random. |
| Webhook | Kickscale | Kickscale sends analysed calls to an address unique to your workspace. |
What every connector has in common
- Email is never sent from your mailbox. Replies are drafts in your own Drafts folder, and you send them.
- Writes you ask for wait for you. A calendar event, a CRM record or a Motion task is shown on an approval card first, and nothing runs until you approve. See Approvals.
- One sales CRM at a time. HubSpot, Pipedrive and Attio feed People and Pipeline one at a time. Switching disconnects the other one, and its records stay in that CRM.
- You can stop any time. Press Disconnect on the tool's card under Connections.
- Your data stays with the provider. What sits in a tool you connect stays there, under your own contract with that provider. Locations are in our sub-processor register.
