Slack
Connect Slack and you can ask Random from Slack, turn a message into a follow-up, and let it catch your commitments in the channels you choose. Channels are off until you switch one on.
What it reads
- Your messages to Random. Direct messages to Random, and messages in a channel that @mention Random. Random answers you in your direct messages, and the conversation also appears in Chat in the app.
- A message you track. Use Track this on a message and it becomes a follow-up.
- Channels you switch on. In a channel, type /random watch and switch it on. Random then checks only the messages you write there or that mention you, and posts a notice so the channel's members know. /random stop turns it off. Only the workspace owner can switch a channel on.
From these messages Random keeps only what it needs: the chat in the app, and each commitment with the sentence it came from. A commitment it finds on its own waits for your approval in Decisions.
Before you switch a channel on, tell its members. If your company has a works council, it may need to agree first.
What it may write
- Its answers to you, in Slack, and a private confirmation after Track this or /random watch that only you see.
- The channel notice when you switch a channel on, and a short one when you switch it off.
- A welcome message in your direct messages with Random when you connect Slack.
- A status reaction (eyes, an hourglass, a check mark, a bell while a commitment waits for your approval, or a warning sign if it could not finish) on the messages it works on: messages sent to or mentioning Random, messages you track, and channel messages a commitment comes from. Everyone in that conversation can see it.
- When you @mention Random in a channel, a short note in that thread that it answered you in a direct message.
- Approval cards in your direct messages with Random. A card for a follow-up email draft shows its subject, text and recipient.
- A reminder in your direct messages with Random when a follow-up you tracked from Slack is due or overdue, once per due date.
- When someone who did not connect Random writes to it or @mentions it in a channel, one reply a day there saying who Random works for.
Anything Random would change elsewhere, such as an email draft or a CRM record, waits for your approval in Slack or in the app.
Connect and disconnect
- Open Connections
The workspace owner opens Connections and chooses Slack.
- Add Random to Slack
Sign in to your Slack workspace and approve the access shown on the screen.
To stop, the owner presses Disconnect on the card. Your messages stay in Slack.
Where your data is
Your messages stay in Slack, under your own contract with Slack. What Random keeps is stored in the EU. See the sub-processor register.
