Inbox and drafts
Random sorts your mail and writes a reply draft wherever one is needed. The draft waits in your own Drafts folder, and you send it.
How it works
- A new email arrives
Shortly after it lands, Random reads it and gives it a category: urgent, scheduling, follow-up, billing, promotional, notification or normal. It also marks whether it needs a reply.
Reads - A draft is written
If the mail needs a reply, Random writes one in the language of the thread, at the formality you chose. The draft goes into the Drafts folder of your own mailbox.
Drafts - You finish and send
Edit it in Random or in your mailbox. Finish in your mailbox opens it there. Sending is always your step.
You send
Your edits teach Random how you write. After 15 real changes to its drafts, it notes what you change and writes closer to that.
More in the inbox
- Dictate a reply. Press the Random mark next to the reply, say what you want to answer, and Random puts it into a draft.
- No draft on a thread? Mail that looks like a notification, a promotion or an invoice gets none. Press Draft one anyway if you want one.
- Track follow-up puts the thread on your Follow-ups list. Snooze sets it aside for now.
- Up to three inboxes, each with a role: Main, Intake, Drafts or Private. Drafts are written on their own only in the Main inbox; in the others you ask for one. A Private inbox stays out of your brief, your follow-ups and what Random remembers.
| Setting | Default | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Sort the inbox automatically (Automations, Built-in) | On | Sorts new mail and writes reply drafts. |
| Formality (Settings) | Formal | Formal, Casual or Match the sender. |
| Inbox role (per inbox) | Main for your first inbox | Decides whether drafts are written on their own. |
What it does not do
It never sends an email from your mailbox. No setting and no chat request changes that. Writing the draft is the last thing Random does, and approving something in the app does not send it either. More in Approvals.
